The sinners Saviour Jesus Christ, to know Him is to love Him.

We have seen in Matthew 1 and Luke 3 the Genealogy of Jesus Christ, and the name God chose for His Son, what the name means and stand for. We have seen the reactions and happenings surrounding the announcement by the messenger of God, the angel of the Lord named Gabriel (Luke 1:19 and 26).

We have seen that even the stars, and Gods created constellation reacted on the good news, we saw the Angels in Heaven in array because of this good news that God the Creator has set the motions in action as promised by his prophets to save His people from sin and the damnation of the entire world.

We have seen the reaction here on earth what happened when “??? ???? ??” called “?????” by His earthly father; the man called Joseph, a common man, a tradesman, a carpenter. Jesus was born in a stable, His first bed was a manger filled with straw covered with the love of his mother. We have seen what happened when men that followed the prophets, looking at the stars of heaven realised the ??????? ?? ?????????? has been ????.

We also saw how Satan and his human followers reacted in planning to kill this ???????? ??? ?? ???. Who and what Satan used trying to protect his domain, killing the children in Bethlehem, Matthew 2:18 and Jer 31:15.  Again we again saw the messenger of God protecting the Child Jesus from this world by getting the child’s earthly father to take him to Egypt, again the prophets are fulfilled for the “Out of Egypt have I called my son.” Hosea 11:1, Matthew 2:15.

We read that God send a man called John the Baptist to prepare the people for the coming ???????, ??? ?? ???, ??? ???? ??. Matthew 3:1-12.Mark 1:1-11,Luke 1:5-25, John 1:19-28

In Mathew 3:17, Mark 1:11 and Luke 3:22 we saw the GOD JEHOVAH HIMESELF witnessed that Jesus is His SON in which GOD JEHOVAH HIMESELF is well pleased when Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. We will see two more places in scripture where God Spoke to Jesus as His son. Matthew 17:5, John 12:28. In 2 Peter 1:17 we see Peter witnessing it as well. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and not just a prophet as some “prophets” claim He is.

The twelve year old Jesus stunned the grownups and the eldered as He first witness about Himself and His Father God in Heaven, to His earthly Mother and Father. Jesus first recorded words in the Bible How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? Luke 2:49

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Luk 2:52

Now after God declared Jesus as His beloved Son in whom He is well pleased Matthew 3:17 and Luke 3:22  Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Matthew 4:1-10. Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-13. Now Satan did not tempt Jesus right away, “No!” He waited until Jesus was what Satan perceived a weak point or moment, after Jesus has fasted forty days and forty nights and afterwards hungered, Matthew 4:2-3,Luke 4:2-3.

Has anyone here ever fasted, not eat for forty days and forty nights, people I spoke to that did it as a form of protest to get attention for their own reasons, says that it tends to let you lose a significant amount of weight due to a lack of amino acids and because of not synthesizing essential amino acids. You will lose a lot of weight.

Let us look at what Gods messenger by the name of Frederick Brotherton Meyer, a contemporary and friend of D. L. Moody and A. C. Dixon, he was a Baptist pastor and evangelist in England involved in ministry and inner city mission work on both sides of the Atlantic has to say about the temptation of Jesus.

Then marks the close connection between the heavenly voice of the baptism and the fiery ordeal of the forty days. Notice that temptation is not in itself sin; only when the evil suggestions of the tempter are harbored do they become sin. Notice also that all around us is a dark region of evil, out of which temptations arise. Whenever you have received a conspicuous revelation, you may expect a time of testing. This is God’s way of rooting the trees in the soil, and burning in the fair colors which He paints on the vessels that are being made meet for His use.

The first temptation was that our Lord should use for His physical needs the power which had been entrusted to Him, as Son of man, for the service of men. The second was an effort to incite Him to act presumptuously, at the dictate of self-will and apart from the clear guidance of God’s Spirit. The third was to attain the throne by a wrong method. It was only by the cross that He could win power to rule and save. See Heb_4:15-16; Heb_5:8-9.

The opening pages of Christ’s public life, Mar_1:9-20. Jesus was recognized by the Baptist, who beheld the opened heavens and the descending Spirit. If the Lord was thus anointed ere He commenced His life-work, how much more must we be! Hast thou become united with Him in His death, made one with Him in His resurrection, and anointed by that same Spirit? Then be sure that thou, too, must be tempted. Sons of men must go the way of the Son of man, now under the opened heavens, then tempted of the devil; on one side the wild beasts, on the other the angels; now driven to loneliness, and then to the crowded street of the cities, there to gather disciples by the energy and beauty of a victorious life.

As the waters of Jordan bisect the Holy Land, so does our Lord’s baptism bisect His holy life. In that act He had identified Himself with the world’s sin; and now, as the High Priest who was to deal with sin and sinners, He must be “in all points” tempted and tested “like as we are.”

He took into the wilderness a perfect humanity of flesh and blood, made in all points like His brethren, though without sin. He elected to fight His great fight, not by the use of the divine attributes, but as Son of man. Where the first Adam fell, the second must stand.

First, He could not use His native power for His own gratification. Second, He would abide strictly within the limitations of the world He had entered, Heb_2:16-17. Third, He would win His kingdom by the Cross.

For those of you who would like to see what the wilderness looked like here is a link to see it all.

New Covenant Israelite! "And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;  Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee."  Rom 11:17 -18
