46. How did God prepare Moses to receive His instructions concerning worship?
Exodus 24:12-18
and
Exodus 25:1-9
Now the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments which I have written for their instruction.” [2Co_3:2-3]
So Moses arose with Joshua his attendant, and he went up to the mountain of God.
And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Remember that Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a legal matter, let him go to them.”
Then Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
The glory and brilliance of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day God called to Moses from the midst of the cloud.
In the sight of the Israelites the appearance of the glory and brilliance of the LORD was like consuming fire on the top of the mountain.
Moses entered the midst of the cloud and went up the mountain; and he was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
Contributions for the Sanctuary
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
“Tell the children of Israel to take an offering for Me. From every man whose heart moves him [to give willingly] you shall take My offering.
This is the offering you are to receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze,
blue, purple, and scarlet fabric, fine twisted linen, goats’ hair,
rams’ skins dyed red, porpoise skins, acacia wood,
[olive] oil for lighting, balsam for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense,
onyx stones and setting stones for the [priest’s] ephod and for the breastpiece.
Have them build a sanctuary for Me, so that I may dwell among them. [Heb_8:1-2; Heb_10:1]
You shall construct it in accordance with everything that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture.

MOSES SHOWN GOD’S PLAN FOR THE TABERNACLE
There were four concentric circles, so to speak, represented as gathered around the burning center of the Divine Presence. In the outer circle, the people, Exo_24:2; Exo_24:17; next, the seventy elders, Exo_24:9; Exo_24:14; then, Joshua, Exo_24:13; Exo_32:17, and lastly, Moses, Exo_24:18. These represent respectively, the unenlightened; those whose religious life is hindered by their excessive devotion to the flesh; the few whose fellowship is liable to be interrupted by the war-clarion; and those who have been made nigh unto God in Jesus Christ our Lord, and have been baptized into the Holy Spirit. To which group have we attained? We are invited to draw nigh, let us act on the invitation. See Heb_10:19-20. There is always room at the top, and there we may stand, beholding, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord. Notice that God said, Come up unto Me. He longs to have our love and faith; His delights are with the sons of men; at great cost He has opened the door of access, Rom_5:1-2. We need God, but God wants us, and therefore the construction of the Tabernacle is next arranged, that He may dwell with man upon the earth.
