Jacob Foretells The Future Of His Sons. Then Jacob called for his sons and said, “Assemble yourselves [around me] that I may tell you what will happen to you and your descendants in the days to come.

JACOB BLESSES EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH

Jacob Blesses Ephraim and Manasseh. When Israel [who was almost blind] saw Joseph’s sons, he said, “Who are these?”
Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here [in Egypt].” So he said, “Please bring them to me, so that I may bless them.”

JOSEPH VISITS HIS DYING FATHER

Joseph Visits His Dying Father. And when the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh and [promise to] deal loyally and faithfully with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt

JOSEPH BRINGS HIS FAMILY TO EGYPT

Joseph Brings His Family To Egypt. And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” And he said, “Here I am.”
And He said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you (your descendants) a great nation there.

JOSEPH SENDS FOR HIS FATHER

Joseph Sends For His Father. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: load your animals and return to the land of Canaan [without delay],
and get your father and your households and come to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you will eat the fat (the finest produce) of the land.’

JOSEPH PROVIDES FOR HIS BROTHERS AND FAMILY

Joseph Provides for His Brothers and Family. Then Joseph could not control himself [any longer] in front of all those who attended him, and he called out, “Have everyone leave me.” So no man stood there when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers.

JOSEPH HOLDS SIMEON BACK SENDING THE REST HOME

Joseph’s Holds Simon Back Sending The Rest Home. He turned away from his brothers and [left the room and] wept; then he returned and talked with them, and took Simeon from them and bound him in front of them [to be kept as a hostage in Egypt].
