JUDAH’S SIN WITH TAMAR HIS DAUGHTER IN LAW

Judah’s sin with Tamar his daughter in law. When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.

THE DEATH OF RACHEL AND ISAAC

And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.
And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.

GOD BLESSES AND RENAMES JACOB

God Blesses and Renames Jacob. And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.
And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

JACOB’S SONS SPOIL THE SHECHEMITES

Jacob’s Sons Spoil The Shechemites. Now on the third day [after the circumcision], when all the men were [terribly] sore and in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s [full] brothers, took their swords, boldly entered the city [without anyone suspecting them of evil intent], and they killed every male.
They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house [where she was staying], and left.

JACOB WITH THE SCHECHEMITES

Jacob With The Shechemites. Now Jacob heard that Shechem had defiled (violated) Dinah his daughter; but his sons were in the field with his livestock, so Jacob said nothing until they came in.

JACOB AND ESAU RECONCILED

Jacob And Esau Reconciled Then Jacob crossed over [the stream] ahead of them and bowed himself to the ground seven times [bowing and moving forward each time], until he approached his brother.
But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him, and hugged his neck and kissed him, and they wept [for joy].
