MAKING BRICKS WITHOUT STRAW

Making Bricks Without Straw. The very same day Pharaoh gave orders to the [Egyptian] taskmasters in charge of the people and their [Hebrew] foremen, saying,
“You will no longer give the people straw to make brick as before; let them go and gather straw for themselves.

PHARAOH OPPRESS ISRAEL KILLING BABIES

Pharaoh Oppresses Israel Killing Babies. Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah (beauty) and the other named Puah (splendor), Exo 1:16 “When you act as midwives to the Hebrew women and see them on the birthstool, if it is a son, you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, she shall live.”

JACOB MOURNED AND BURIED

Jacob Mourned And Buried. ‘My father made me swear [an oath], saying, “Hear me, I am about to die; bury me in my tomb which I prepared for myself in the land of Canaan.” So now let me go up [to Canaan], please, and bury my father; then I will return.'”
And Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear.”

JACOB’S DEATH AND BURIAL

Jacob’s Death and Burial. When Jacob (Israel) had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people [who had preceded him in death].

JOSEPH SENDS FOR HIS FATHER

Joseph Sends For His Father. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: load your animals and return to the land of Canaan [without delay],
and get your father and your households and come to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you will eat the fat (the finest produce) of the land.’

JOSEPH PROVIDES FOR HIS BROTHERS AND FAMILY

Joseph Provides for His Brothers and Family. Then Joseph could not control himself [any longer] in front of all those who attended him, and he called out, “Have everyone leave me.” So no man stood there when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers.

JOSEPH’S BROTHERS GO TO EGYPT

Joseph’s Brothers Go To Egypt. Now when Jacob (Israel) learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, “Why are you staring at one another [in bewilderment and not taking action]?”
He said, “I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down there and buy [some] grain for us, so that we may live and not die [of starvation].”
