JOSEPH’S BROTHERS PLOT HIS DEATH

Joseph’s Brothers Plot His Death. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

JOSEPH LOVED AND HATED

Joseph Loved and Hated, His Dreams. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, what is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

THE GENERATIONS OF ESAU THE FATHER OF THE EDOMITES

Herod the Great WAS an Edomite descending from Esau. He killed a lot of babies when Jesus was born.

GOD BLESSES AND RENAMES JACOB

God Blesses and Renames Jacob. And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.
And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

JACOB’S SONS SPOIL THE SHECHEMITES

Jacob’s Sons Spoil The Shechemites. Now on the third day [after the circumcision], when all the men were [terribly] sore and in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s [full] brothers, took their swords, boldly entered the city [without anyone suspecting them of evil intent], and they killed every male.
They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house [where she was staying], and left.

JACOB WRESTLES WITH GOD

Jacob Wrestles with God. So Jacob was left alone, and a Man [came and] wrestled with him until daybreak.
When the Man saw that He had not prevailed against Jacob, He touched his hip joint; and Jacob’s hip was dislocated as he wrestled with Him.

JACOB FEARS TO MEET ESAU

Jacob Fears To Meet Esau. The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and there are four hundred men with him.”

THE COVENANT BETWEEN JACOB AND LABAN

The Covenant Between Jacob And Laban. Laban said: ”So come now, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between you and me.”
So Jacob took a stone and set it up as a [memorial] pillar.

THE DISTPUTE BETWEEN LABAN AND JACOB

The Dispute Between Laban And Jacob. On the third day [after his departure] Laban was told that Jacob had fled.
So he took his relatives with him and pursued him for seven days, and they overtook him in the hill country of Gilead.
God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, “Be careful that you do not speak to Jacob, either good or bad.”

JACOB FLEES FROM LABAN

Jacob Flees from Laban. Jacob noticed [a change in] the attitude of Laban, and saw that it was not friendly toward him as before.
Then the LORD said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your people, and I will be with you.”
